CONDITIONS need a TRIGGER!!

WINBERRY 7 months ago in Game Creator updated by Marti (Lead Developer) 7 months ago 2

just a heads up, it could just be me, but it took weeks to finally realize that CONDITIONS need TRIGGERS to work. In all the examples, the start with explaining the CONDITION, but not where or how the CONDITION is attached. I finally got my example to work when I added a TRIGGER to a sphere and when to CONDITONS before ACTIONS. Again, sorry if this is general knowledge, but it too me a lot of head splitting WTH moments to finally resolve.

Unity version:
2018.4
Game Creator version:
1.1.5

Answer

Yes ,you trigger something like pressing a key, collision or trigger enter then you either use an action or you use a condition that then executes an action.

Look also at the trigger on variable changed (that one is also very important and gets missed  a lot as it is like Update)

Correct. The videos showcase this. However, maybe for the next major iteration we'll change the order in which Actions, Conditions and Triggers are presented: First the Actions, then the Triggers and lastly, the Conditions, which are not that commonly used when starting with Game Creator.

Conditions are evaluated in a single frame when you ask them to be checked. Triggers, on the other hand, listen to world and input events, and respond by executing Actions and/or Conditions.
