Sound/music volume

Pandar 11 months ago in Game Creator updated by Marti (Lead Developer) 8 months ago 3

Tell me, please, how to organize music and sounds in scenes and volume control from the options menu? The volume of music and the volume of sounds - should be a global variable? With what values? In the scene, is it enough to create a game object + Action Name "Play Music"? What are the values of the slider in the options menu? Is it possible to manage main settings of the video?

Hi Pandar;

You can organize them as you like. Game Creator comes with an audio manager that provides separate controls for controlling the volume of the music and sound effects (voices are coming soon, but as for now, they are treated as sound effects).

You only need to use the "Play Sound" Action to play a sound effect. To play a background music, use the "Play Music" Action, which allows you to fade it and it automatically loops the audio clip.

In order to control the volume of music and sound effects, simply use the Change Volume Action. This allows you specify a value between 0 (no audio) and 1 (maximum audio) for both sound and music clips.

As for how to display this in a main menu config window, you can use the Slider component, which calls a set of Actions every time the value of the slider changes (you'll find it at Create -> Game Creator -> UI -> Slider). Then, all you need to do is use the Change Volume Action and use as input the value of the slider (which should be stored in a Local/Global variable).

Hope this helps!

Y cambie el número que tiene para crear un componente "txt" y asignar local y variable.

En el control deslizante Crear una acción y cambiar el texto, asignado a este texto. ¿esta bien?

Hi Casimiro; please create a separate question topic in English for further questions. That way everyone can benefit from the answer and we'll keep the forums organized. Cheers!
