Inventory Slots for Categories and multiple of the same item

uli 2 weeks ago in Inventory updated by Marti (Lead Developer) 2 days ago 1

Is it possible to make a set number of slots for any category in the inventory? I would like to have visible empty slots and have the item picked up go into the empty said slots. Also while on the topic of pick ups, is there a way to be able to pick up multiple of the same item and not have it stack? Like if I pick up a sword and if there is another just like it and I pick them up, I can have 2 of that same sword and not have it stack. Currently I can pick up my sword but it just gets placed in the sword category but when I try to pick up another of it, it wont go into my inventory at all. I have it set to max stack limit 1 sho it shouldn't stack. So how can I make it to where when I collect the second same sword it gets added into my inventory and makes a new slot nest to the first one, or in my case, slots that I would like to add?

Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. The way the Inventory works is by having a list of item's ID and an integer that represents the amount of this item. Allowing to have two exact same items without being stacked means that the list would have two items with two identical IDs, which the system architecture assumes it will never happen.

This is something we will be working on for Inventory 2.0. If you have more ideas, you can add them to this think-tank thread: https://support.gamecreator.io/communities/1/topics/109-what-inventory-20-should-consider
