How to animate objects

Crispy 6 months ago in Game Creator updated by Marti (Lead Developer) 6 months ago 2

I made an animation of an object moving, but it uses another animator controller. Is it possible to trigger the animation with an Action? Is there a better way to go about animating objects?

Unity version:
2018.4.9f1
Game Creator version:
1.0.1

Ok, I got it to work by adding a trigger parameter in the animator and calling it with the Animate action. Let me know if there's a better way.

You're correct. The only way to interact with Animations is using the Animate and Animation Layer actions. This allow you to modify the Animator's parameters, using Triggers, Bools, Floats and Integers. This is the only way.

Characters, on the other hand, have an animation system build on top of Unity's Mecanim that allows to play animations directly onto game objects without the need to mess with the Animator Controller. But this feature is exclusive of the Character component.
